Tunggul Purusa Utomo
Tunggul joined Assegaf Hamzah & Partners in 2001, and was quickly recognized as having all it takes to become a successful commercial lawyer. His early promise bore fruit and he quickly rose up through the firm to be made senior associate in 2008.
In his practice at AHP, Tunggul focuses on capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, banking, and project finance. Having advised both issuers / underwriters on a host of debt and equity offerings, many of them global, as well as M&A, and banking and finance deals, he possesses a wealth of experience and expertise working with both domestic and transnational companies operating in the mining, financial services, broadcasting, plantation and oil and gas sectors, to name but a few. Among the major transactions Tunggul has worked on are a series of high-value debt offerings by telecommunications giant Indosat, and IPOs by Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional, coal miner Berau Coal Energy, oil and gas firm Elnusa, and telecommunications infrastructure provider Tower Bersama Infrastructure. With an instinctive understanding of client needs and business exigencies, he has frequently been commended for both the aptness of his advice and his responsiveness to client concerns.
Tunggul graduated with a bachelor of law degree from the University of Indonesia in 2001. He was awarded an LL.M in commercial law in 2011 by the Erasmus School of Law, Erasmus University, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He also holds an advocate's professional training certificate from the Indonesian Bar Association (Peradi), and is an active member of the association.
A self-confessed nature lover, Tunggul likes nothing better than to get away from it all trekking high in the jungle-clad mountains of West Java.
