Ibrahim Sjarief Assegaf

As a senior member of AHP’s Banking & Finance practice, Ibrahim represents both domestic and international financial institutions, borrowers/project companies and sponsors on corporate and government syndication and bilateral financings, project financings and infrastructure projects. He also advised and represented clients in relation to a number of significant structured finance and insolvency/debt-restructuring matters.

Ibrahim’s breadth and depth of experience builds from a global legal education spanning three continents. After graduating from the University of Indonesia (1997) with his Bachelor’s in law, Ibrahim was research fellow at Harvard Law School’s East Asian Legal Studies Program (2002-2003), before earning a LL.M in 2009 from the University of Melbourne, Australia, facilitated by an Australian Development Scholarship.

The insight, skill, and professionalism that Ibrahim brings to his clients sees him regularly recognised as one of Indonesia’s leading practitioners. Recent highlights include playing a lead role advising the state-backed project developer in the pioneering Palapa Ring broadband project – the largest telecommunications project ever to be undertaken in Indonesia, which aims to expand nationwide broadband service in the form of 11,000 kilmeters of undersea fiber-optic cables. This calibre of experience sees Ibrahim lauded across the most respected of legal research guides, this year named ‘Leading lawyer’ by Chambers & Partners 2018, and recognized in four practice areas by Legal500 2018.
