Ellrico Parulian Situmorang
Prior to joining Assegaf Hamzah & Partners in 2009, Ellrico gained invaluable experience serving as an advocate with a number of other top-tier law firms in Jakarta. While at university, he also worked part-time as a senior executive with a legal aid institute.
Ellrico now focuses his practice on litigation and dispute resolution, and has represented clients in a wide range of civil and criminal matters, including corruption cases, commercial litigation, labor disputes and press/media litigation. Of particular note, he represented the New York Times as defendant in a controversial libel action brought by Richard Ness, the former CEO of mining firm Newmont Minahasa Raya.
Ellrico holds a bachelor of law degree from Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung, and an advocate's professional training certificate from the Indonesian Bar Association (Peradi).
Outside of the office, Ellrico has a deep interest in advancing legal education in Indonesia, and to this end has served as a judge in the Indonesian rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, as well as a guest lecturer on civil procedure law at Trisakti University. He also devotes a considerable amount of his free time to pro bono work under the auspices of the Indonesian Bar Association’s Legal Aid Center.
