Astrid Widyakartika Handaka

Astrid joined Assegaf Hamzah & Partners in July 2017, having earlier spend her legal career in two prominent Indonesian law firms for a total of more and less 10 years of experience. She graduated with a law degree from the University of Indonesia in 2003 and then earned her Master degree from Melbourne University in 2012. 

At the early stage of her career there, she was working as a generalist where she involved in mergers and acquisitions as well as capital market transactions. Later on while she was working her way up, she was more focussed on doing capital market and banking and finance transactions. She mostly handled high yield debt issuance transactions and loan transaction either with domestic banks or international banks.  

From 2015 until before joining Assegaf Hamzah & Partners she was working at the Indonesia’s affiliated office of a globally renowed law firm along side Indonesian lawyers and foreign lawyers. During her time, she focussed on doing banking and finance transactions mostly representing lenders as well as involved in the firm’s capital market related transactions.  

She has extensive experience and knowledge in representing both national or international banking institutions in negotiating the facility agreement, from an Indonesian law perspective and drafting and negotiating Indonesian security documents.  In the high yield bonds offering transaction, she also has vast knowledge in representing the issuer and the underwriters in reviewing the transaction documents and Indonesian law security documents.  

She also has a particular interest in the Government of Indonesia debt offering, both in conventional method or through Islamic route by ways of Sukuk issuance.
